The family business Bergbahnen Steinplatte

1972 until today

Skiing fun for the whole family! Cable car pioneer Andrä Brandtner Sr. laid the foundations back in 1972 with the construction of three T-bar lifts and the high-altitude road from Waidring. To this day, the Steinplatte is a popular paradise for skiing and snowboarding fans with sunny, snow-sure and fantastic views in the middle of the Tyrol-Salzburg-Bavaria border triangle.

A pioneer with foresight - What does it take to realize sunny skiing fun on 42 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes? An enthusiastic skier who is not discouraged by large investments. And that's what Steinplatte has found in Andrä Brandtner. Together with business partners, he built the Plattenkogel, Schwarzlofer and Kammerkör 1 T-bar lifts, which were still diesel-powered at the time. The Plattenkogel 2 double chairlift followed in 1975, followed 4 years later by the Bärecklift and the Kapellenlift. In 1979, his son Andreas joined the company as managing partner and was involved in all projects from then on.
A milestone was reached in 1985 with the first detachable four-seater chairlift in Austria and in 1990 with the construction of one of the first snowmaking systems in the region. After decades of planning and preparation, the German side was finally better connected in 2009 with the construction of the Winklmoosalmbahn from Seegatterl to the Winklmoosalm. With Andi jun. and Florian Brandtner, the 3rd generation is already active in the management and is constantly working on the continued existence of the business.

and we would like to share another (success) story with you in the bärig.tirol blog by Eduard Ehrlich:

The Brandtner Andrä
... or how a poor saggar with zero equity built up a cable car empire
Andrä doesn't want to be portrayed as “The Great Brandtner”. “That's not me. In principle, I've had a really great life,” says the Waidring native. “And I wouldn't want to miss a single day”. Although: “I didn't have anything at the beginning!”. Here is the whole story.
