Stalactite cave

Stalactites that grow from the cave ceiling towards the floor are called stalactites. Those growing upwards from the floor are called stalagmites. When the two join together, they are called stalagnates. Did you already know that?

The material that forms the stalactites is called sinter. A prerequisite for the formation of stalactite caves is a high content of dissolved minerals - usually lime - in the water, which are deposited in the cave. Sounds exciting, doesn't it?
